My Background

My journey began over 35 years ago in the financial services industry where I successfully led many teams to improve their business’ performance primarily through active employee development. “I didn’t know much about employee development, but I knew that ensuring team members had the capability to succeed first for themselves, than their success would translate into better business outcomes….and it worked!”  It soon became clear that my finance and accounting background, although important, were not going to be the focus of my future.  It was the ability to see in others what they might not see in themselves – a desire to support people in accomplishing what they didn’t know they could do was my calling!

Since then, I have presented to over 30,000 people around the globe. I am known for my dynamic, highly personalized, participant-centered approach to the art of facilitation and bring a wealth of expertise to designing, developing and curating learning experiences.  Areas of depth include:  Inclusion and the Neuroscience of Bias, Authentic Leadership, Executive Presence, Coaching, Influencing, Situational Leadership, Change Management, and Dynamic Teaming.

Why I Work

“My work is founded on the principles of inclusion and belonging. I believe that we can’t be great leaders of others until we are first great leaders of ourselves. I get to help people be better people and in turn, help their organizations be more successful.”

When I Am Not Working

I live in Dallas, TX with my partner, family and friends – oh, and three dogs. Not to be too generic, but travel is our “thing” – we go all over in our house on wheels!  Any chance we get to load up the RV Coach and hit the road, I’m in!  Our goal is to eventually sell everything, except the RV, and become nomads.  I am also a foodie so whenever we come upon a good “diner, drive-in, or dive” we stop and check it out.

For the past 25 years, I have volunteered at Camp el Tesoro de la Vida – a week-long grief camp for kids.  The obstacles of losing a loved one are often buried and can have life-long consequences.  Camp el Tesoro de le Vida is a place where everyone appreciates that commonality and it provides the opportunity for healing in a fun and supportive way.  At the end of each camp, we plant a tree and campers paint a rock representing their lost loved one. You can see a beautiful photo of this ritual above.
