Why I Work

“I am inspired every time I watch my clients connect to their own impact and stretch into their own potential. When a leader strengthens their own effectiveness, everything around that leader benefits.  Rising waters lift all boats.  I am passionate about helping teams and leaders be the rising waters.”

What Our Clients Say

“We pride ourselves on a unique culture and a focus on strong values. Melanie committed the time and effort up front, and throughout our yearlong engagement, to truly understand who we are collectively as a firm and individually as leaders. The program that resulted was engaging and impactful. I’m pleased to recommend Mel to others looking to invest in leadership at their organization.”

More About Me

I have been in leadership positions since I was 16 years old, always focused on trying to figure out how to create a sense of connection and community that inspires others to give their best.  After graduating with my MBA, I quickly grew into increasingly senior leadership positions. As a former executive, I built my reputation as a someone who was able to build, scale and transform groups into highly collaborative and engaged teams that became magnets for talent.  I describe myself as a leadership generalist, starting my career in sales, and strategically pursuing leadership roles that exposed me to business development, product management, channel management and organizational development. This exposure really helped me early on to appreciate the impact that great leaders and high performing teams can have on both business outcomes and life outcomes. Our work lives continue to intertwine with the rest of our lives. Great leaders and great teams take responsibility for each other’s’ performance, learning and wellbeing, creating the kind of workplace that attracts great people.

In my work as an executive, and now as a leadership and team coach, I have had the privilege of supporting the growth of people, and through them, the growth of businesses. I am passionate about making work, work better.

Clients engage me to partner with their people to increase their impact – helping them become a high performing team in all aspects of their collective and individual work efforts. My work with leaders focuses on increasing individual capabilities in support of greater team and business performance. Clients appreciate the perspectives I bring both as a former executive and the insights I’ve gleaned from my work across multiple industries and organizations.

When I’m Not Working …

British born, and Canadian raised, I grew up on the East Coast of Canada (Nova Scotia), moving to Toronto for work after receiving my MBA.  I fell in love, got married (20+ years and counting!) and have raised 3 amazing children who are beginning to make their mark in the world. I am proud of who they are, their willingness to ask questions, to help others and to challenge themselves.  Surrounded by entrepreneurs, people willing to go back to school at 40 (or 60), and people reinventing their careers regardless of age, I have grown accustomed to looking for the possibilities and opportunities that sit within change.  I enjoy equally great conversations and companionable silence, always feel better after a hike or time by the water, and am happy to share the secrets to a great cup of tea.
